Sad things happening...

Of course the kids got lots of presents and we had a feast yesterday but a pall has been cast over Christmas this year with the death of a friend and the news that another friend is dying.  Almost a disaster a day, it seems, with the dreadful things going on in the world.

You may well ask what a photo of a frog is doing here.  No logical reason whatsoever. This fellow and a mate were both swimming in the pool this morning, so we fished them out and put them into a dish of fresh water.  One hopped away, but this one stayed for quite a while, giving me some nice poses.

If I haven't replied to your mail or card, please forgive me, as I've been feeling pretty low.

sad to hear about your friends, there is never a good time to hear bad news but somehow it appears more shocking when the whole town is lit up and feeling merry. My eldest sister went into hospital a few days before Christmas and I was worrying about her: she is too far away (400 miles) for me to visit but my other sister who lives close by is keeping me in touch.
Good pics of the frog, he/she looks in very good condition.
Hope you are feeling better now, as I write it is snowing outside and oh how I would love to sit by your pool along with you in the sunshine. Like you I don't travel very well so I will have to dream on. xx

you are a busy lady Diane I haven't enen thought of the 'big clear up' yet - I am sure we can live with a bit of clutter for a while longer.
My sister died on the 27th which meant many 'phone calls between the north and the south of the British Isles: easy access to speak with our families tends to make you forget how far away you are in miles. I actually don't think we will make the funeral as hitting the snow and ice of North Yorkshire is no joke at this time of year. I can hear her voice telling me off at the very thought of driving up there but we'll see. love for now x
