A friend took this pic yesterday, leaving New York after the forecast blizzard didn't eventuate. Just think, all those hours on a plane. I don't know how anybody can do it.
Yes Winifred, it did rain on Australia Day - rained for days, in fact. Today the sun is out but it's quite cool and I'm wearing a jumper. When did you last have a dog to walk?
Olga, thanks for your concern about the marks on my leg. It's not a bandage, and not made by any tight clothes - just mysterious indentations in my leg.
A physiotherapist was just here to talk to me about the research project I'm involved in. (I showed the marks to her and she'd never seen anything like them and couldn't explain them.) She said she finds me very interesting and asked my permission to do a case study of me and have me talk at the end of the project as a shining example of what an old person should be.
It's my first day on duty after the 12-week holidays. Things are a bit different this year, as Hugo will be going to preschool two days per week instead of one. His grandfather will take him and I will take Emma to big school (Year 2), then pick them both up at 3 to 3:10 pm. Hugo will start big school next year.

Oh! being a nanny is all go isn't it? I had to rush to school yesterday as Georgina had forgotten her French homework (for the second time!!!) and thought she would rightly be in trouble - got it there just in time.
My history with dogs is a long one Diane and I could not meet the vet's bills nowadays sadly. Before we went to Bath we had three (two foster dogs which went back to their owners and broke my heart) and our beautiful Lab who died aged 15 years. Since then all the dogs have been other peoples who would be out of the country for long periods or badly treated dogs from Holly Bank our local rescue centre. Recently I have not accepted any because having dogs in this country is no longer such a joy, there are so many rules and having to keep them on the lead at all times takes all the fun out of long walks exploring every blade of grass. I miss the plus of not having to exercise when you walk out at least twice every day - no fun at the gym or on the exercise bike. x
