I love the sound of planes overhead and went outside by the pool with Muffy, my coffee and my camera this morning to take some pics for you. It wasn't the easiest of things to do, as, by the time I'd clicked the shutter and the photo was actually taken, the plane was almost out of sight.
The noise is minimal, not in the least annoying as it is in suburbs closer to the airport.

I love the sight and Sound of Planes too, every Summer they have an airplane display at Seaburn(Sunderland) and last year an old Lancaster bomber flew over our house, it was a magnificent sight
Before we went to Bath we lived next door to Bristol Airport - 'just at the end of the main runway' my dear one used to tell people who asked where we lived.
We actually loved it and often wished holiday flights a happy time as they roared overhead. Like you I never once found it a nuisance - but of course there was no night flights. xx
Thankfully no night flights at Hannover airport as well. At easterly winds planes approach Hannover from where we live, and they have only 40 kms left. They are so low level we can see the company signs on the tailplane fin.
