Walking round...

I'm gradually becoming a city-ite and not so intimidated by everything.  This morning I drove to Wahroonga, the next suburb, had a coffee and cake in a French cafe, then walked round the streets full of houses like this one.  They are worth zillions.  The north shore of Sydney is very leafy and beautiful and it is a joy to walk round.  I got this pic from the real estate online pages, but next time will remember to take my camera with me.
Check some out for yourself:

Map of Hornsby - at the northernmost tip of Sydney

I feel completely at home here in Hornsby Heights and have almost forgotten my previous address.  I went to Newcastle yesterday for long-standing medical and dental appointments and caught up with several friends, which was nice.

Still have lots of unpacking to do.  Can't really do it till the new kitchen is built.  (Got a quote on Monday and the installation will start in about three weeks.)

Muffy is becoming braver every day and venturing forth into the backyard.  This morning she came out with me while I hung the clothes on the line and her mouth was watering at the sight of a kookaburra sitting on the line next door.

What next?

It's hard to believe - floods, cyclone and now bushfires in Perth!  It's all too terrible...

One catastrophe after another...

Am watching the news of cyclone Yasi.  What a disaster for the people of Queensland.  It's hard to talk about the good things in my life when all this is going on.

The whole country is experiencing a heatwave.  One of my fans broke the night before last and I couldn't buy another one anywhere!  The family has been sleeping in my unit, which is much cooler than the main house.

There have been bushfires not far from here and in many other places as well.  We are in a high risk area, just metres from a national park.  It seems nowhere on the planet is safe from natural disasters.
